Evil Dead: Virtual Nightmare is a Virtual Reality (VR) video game released by Boomdash Studios on August 2nd, 2018 for Oculus GO and Samsung Gear VR. Based on the 2013 Evil Dead film, the game is an updated version of the 2016 mobile game Evil Dead: Endless Nightmare. Virtual Nightmare would eventually be ported for mobile devices and released as Evil Dead: Extended Nightmare in 2019.
Overview[]
The game is identical to Evil Dead: Endless Nightmare, where players run through the woods collecting power-ups, weapons, and "Blood Drops". Since there is no proper ending to the game, the primary objective is to get the longest distance possible without dying. Along the way, the player can pick up fragments of the Book of The Dead, and when five pieces are collected, the player is taken to a boss battle with a giant witch.
Unlike the original Endless Nightmare game, Virtual Nightmare allows players to upgrade their weapons with cosmetics. The game also features several graphical updates to characters and items carried over from Endless Nightmare, and introduces a new environment for the boss battle against the forest witch.
